“How To Get Your Readers to Fall In Love With Your Real Estate Blog”
Written on September 10, 2008 by Peter- REBB Founder
So stick around because this post will get your juices flowing.
Today, I want to talk to you about what you need to do to get your readers to stick around and fall in love with your real estate blog. But before I get into it, make sure you read my Real Estate Blogs - How You Can Start Generating Real Estate Leads In the Next 15 Minutes. It’s a great opening post and a must read before we dive into today’s strategy.
There are many different things that you can implement into your blog to get it “sticky.” But today, I want to share with you three things that you can implement right away in your own real estate blog.
So, let’s get to it, shall we?
Getting Your Reader to Stick Around Secret #1
This one might be pretty obvious to you but so many people don’t implement it and actually do it. For your readers to stick around, read your blog, and come back to read more of your blog, you need to write what THEY want or need to READ. Think about it.
Every single person in this world has the same 24 hours in a day. They need to figure out who they will give their next 10 minutes to. Who is worth their time? So, when they look on the internet for solutions to their problems, your blog needs to give them that solution. Otherwise, they’ll leave and probably never come back.
Not only do you have to give them that solutions, but the solution needs to be precise, actionable, and exciting enough for them to implement it in their life and/or business.
Oh, one more thing. Your post needs to be valuable in regards to the content. Content on your blog needs to contain information that you could very well start selling for profit. That’s right. I said it. You need to give stuff away, give away your expert information. That’s what’s going to make them come back.
Getting Your Reader to Stick Around Secret #2
Your blog needs to look professional. it needs to look like people actually come to it and engage within it. How do you accomplish that?
First of all, to make the blog professional, you need to have a professional looking blog theme/template. There are thousands of templates on the internet that you can find. Frankly, finding a free template that is going to kick a$$ can be hard. But, it’s doable. You other choice is to buy a professional template. Most professional templates are SEO friendly, are targeted to specific industries such as real estate, and have a very unique layout that can blow your visitors away.
Now, how can you make it look like people visit your site? Well, there are several ways. Having people comment on your blog can show visitors that the blog is alive, people visit it, and engage in the conversation.
If you have been reading my blog for a while, you notice that I always ask for comments at the end of my post, (now I’m telling on myself) and answer the comments people leave on my blog. I engage in the conversation and welcome my readers to do the same.
On that note, please share your thoughts about this post. Do you currently have a blog? Are you struggling with getting readers to comment on your site? Are you struggling with getting traffic to your site? Share your comments below and as always, I’ll write a post in the near future, just for you.
Getting Your Reader to Stick Around Secret #3
This last secret doesn’t pertain to writing, commenting, or providing content. It’s more about the technology and structure of your blog. In order to get your blog “reader-sticky”, you can implement several plugins to automatically the work for you in the background.
What are plugins?
If you are using wordpress for your blog, sooner or later, you are going to discover that there are thousands of wordpress plugins. Basically, plugins are small pieces of code/script that you install on your blog. In turn, these codes/scripts will run in the background and do what they were designed to do. For the most part, they are easy to install. Almost every single plugin has installation instructions so you shouldn’t have any problems installing it on your blog.
What plugins do you need to get your blog reader-sticky?
Here are 4 plugins for your blog that I recommend. This should get you started.
Plugin #1 - Related Posts Plugin This is a great plugin that will show you related posts at the end of each post. Once your readers finish reading your post, they’ll click through to your other posts by using this plugin. You can check this plugin in action at the end of this post.
Plugin #2 - Comment Relish This plugin will send a short email to the person who commented on your blog thanking him for leaving a comment on your blog.
Widget #3 - Recent Posts Widget in Your Blog’s Sidebar. This widget is located under the Widgets page of the Design menu in your administrative area of your wordpress blog. It will show your recent posts in your blog’s sidebar.
Widget #4- Recent Comments Widget in Your Blog’s Sidebar. This widget is located in the same place as recent posts widget. Not only does this widget show the blog’s most recent comments but your commenters get popular by having THEIR name featured on the MAIN page of your blog.
Cool, right? Well, that’s enough for today. The post is getting long. Don’t forget to leave your comments and tell me what kind of problems you face on your blog. I’ll be more than happy to help.
To Your Success,
Peter K.

I dont have a blog. your blog is interesting but i dont understand about widjets etc.
Charles,
Widgets are little pieces of code that incorporate right into the wordpress hosted blog. (It’s just a name they gave to that type of code)
Once you install wordpress blog, you can navigate to the design menu, and there, you’ll see a ‘widgets’ subheading.
Also, if you look at the vertical bars on the right side of this blog, you’ll see that much of the content within them is run by widgets.
I hope this helps.
