Google has just updated their local business listings. That’s right. But before I tell you about the update, I feel like I need to tell you something about real estate local listings.
Back in October 2008, I wrote a post here on the blog titled How To Dominate Your Local Real Estate Market with Google Maps. If you haven’t read that post yet, I suggest you go over there, after you read this one, and read it thoroughly. Most importantly, take action and get your business listed in Google, Yahoo and MSN.
Well now, Google has made their business listings even better. Google Local business listings now have an Analytics software attached you. You are able to see how many times your listing has been viewed, how many times people have clicked on it and what keywords they used to find your listing. This is a big update and great news for you. Why?
Because you can use that data to tweak your listing to rank higher on Google. Just look at the keywords Google gives you on your Analytics dashboard and then head over to Google. Once you are there, use that keyword to track the location of your listing within Google. When you find it, see why it appears in there and then tweak it to rank higher.
For instance, look at the keyword that you are ranking for, see how many people are searching that keyword and then add that keyword to your listing. Just don’t overdo it with keyword stuffing. Here’s a rule of thumb: Make sure it looks natural for your visitors.
Then you can add some backlinks to that listings as well. You can do that by commenting on different blogs, especially Google blogs. <–Big Hint there for you
So that’s it for today. I just wanted to share that with you. If you haven’t added your business to Google, Yahoo and MSN yet, I highly suggest you do as that soon as possible. One of my websites gets nice, automatic, traffic just from Google’s business listing. And it took me about 10 minutes to create the listing.

Hi, very nice post. I have been wonder’n bout this issue,so thanks for posting
I recently downloaded your ebook, very interested in finding more about this. I have worked on the domination process, I have setup my Google Local with Videos and other stuff. I have seen how the analytic work for the local market. Recently started to write post on Googles wikipedia(Knol). Everyday I work this, with great information like yours it will keep me on track.
@Christopher Shaw –
Great job Chris. Try adding some other social media sites to your mix such as squidoo.com and hubpages.com They are very good and rank high in search engines, especially if you target the right keywords (hint: local market keywords).
let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.
