“Real Estate Video Marketing - 3 Tips to Get Your Internet Video Marketing Off the Ground”

Written on August 27, 2008 by Peter- REBB Founder

internet video marketingI just came across this survey and I need to share it with you.  But before I go into it, let me bring up the following questions:

Do you think that you still have time before you start using internet video for your real estate marketing?

Does it even pay off to use internet video for your marketing?  Is it worth it?

Well, if I haven’t convinced you yet here on my blog that you need to use internet video marketing for your real estate business and your properties, then maybe this will give you a nudge :)

Recently, VHT Inc. & PropertyPreviews.com has conducted a survey to find out how effective real estate video and photography is to real estate marketing.  Their findings?  Pretty incredible.  According to the survey results, using video in real estate marketing can increase the perceived value of a home by almost 6%.  Professional photography can increase the perceived value of a home by almost 13%.

So, let put some numbers on this.  If you are trying to sell a $200,000 home, using real estate video in your marketing can increase the perceived value of the home by $12,000.  Not bad, huh?  It gets better.  According to their survey, respondents who viewed the property listing with video valued the home at an average price of $432,329, which in turn meant an increase of 6 percent or $24,490, over the average perceived price of the description-only property, $407,839. So, how can you benefit from this?  Well, real estate video marketing is relatively new to real estate.  Many real estate professionals and home owners are either too lazy or intimidated by the whole video marketing idea.  But that perception couldn’t be further from the truth.  Marketing with video is not as hard as it looks.

Obviously, the price to produce a video can range from around $100 (if you do it yourself) to several thousands of dollars (if you hire a professional team).  If you are just starting out or want to go the cheaper route, here are few tips for your real estate video marketing strategy.

Real Estate Video Marketing Tip #1

You don’t need a thousand dollar camera.  If you are just starting out, you can get a Flip from Amazon for about $120.  That camera is very user friendly, hooks up to a computer with a USB port, and you can have you video on the internet within minutes.

Real Estate Video Marketing Tip #2

When filming your property tour, focus on the benefits that your buyer will receive when they buy your property.  Having a big kitchen is a great feature but being able to have the entire family prepare and eat a meal on a sunny Sunday afternoon is a little better.  You get the picture :)  You need to paint a picture for the future homeowner so they can see themselves living in that house.

Real Estate Video Marketing Tip #3

When marketing your video on the internet, always make sure that you have your website address and/or contact information shown in the corner of the video.  Basically, you need to place what’s called a watermark in the corner of the video.  If you are not sure how to do that, you can always end the video by telling people to visit your site to see more shots of the home and other houses they might be interested in seeing.  For even better results, do both.

So there you go.  Three tips to help you get your video off the ground.  Obviously, there is more to it but if I keep going, the post will be mile long.  However, If you need some more marketing secrets for your real estate video marketing, read my Real Estate Video Marketing - 3 Steps to VIdeo Marketing on Stereoids.

One last thing. I need you to tell me if you are using video in your marketing.  Have you had success using video to sell your home?

Or maybe you are new to video marketing?  if so, what else would you like to know?  What is your biggest road block when it comes to doing video for your properties?

Until next time,

Peter K.
